Biography

A few minutes exploring the subtleties of a variety of music genres with Kyle Wooden leaves you not only flat out impressed with his broad knowledge of this method of human expression, but gives you a quiet sense that you are in the presence of a bonafied singer musician. Born to a family with a pedigree for distinguished talent and music (Billy Kyle, the famous pianist of Louis Armstrong and The Jazz All-Stars was his great uncle), Kyle’s interest in music of all types seems predestined. It wasn’t until after his early years of musical training that Kyle found that his true instrument was his voice! A crystal clear tenor who could hit and hold notes like “no tomorrow”- young Kyle was inspired by the singing of such icons as Donny Hathaway, Frank Sinatra, Martin Sexton and Stevie Wonder to name a few.

Kyle’s voice training led him through the rigors of opera, acoustics and musical theater- training to which he credits his comfort with his audience and love of live performance. Nevertheless despite his formal music training as a young man, it is now abundantly clear to all of his fans that it is his natural musical genius that captures his audiences, leaving them shaking their heads with a simple…“Wow”!

“I grew up in a family which loved Jazz, Blues and American folk standards but I also remember fondly the silky sounds of Anita Baker, the lyrics of the mighty Spinners and the passionate crooning of Luther Vandross coming out of my folks stereo during Friday night cook-ins’ in my mother’s kitchen.
These rich melodies of musical influences have resulted in Kyle Wooden’s arresting yet soothing style, best defined as “harmony for the soul”. A quintessential vocalist his instrument of voice is only rivaled by his song writing talent - a natural skill made possible by his use of wonderfully powerful and emotive poetic lyrics.

Look for Kyle’s new album, A Man in Love, featuring the new uptown step groove, Down to the Floor, the relationship headliner, You Got it Wrong, and the ear candy of Kyle’s voice with only he and his piano, singing a melody destined to become the new wedding national anthem of all lovers….. So Deep.
Rhythm and Blues will never be the same!
